Kanttori from Lentolaivue 32 took note of the FinRus map introduction here and sent more information and much better pictures. Many thanks! Below is short summary from him in Finnish:

Kanttori, a member of Lentolaivue 32 squad, has done a awesome job with our new map and skins. This is the Finland-Russia eastern front area. Map scale is 1:4 and the map area is 256 miles X 256 miles (400 km X 400 km). In a normal world the area is about 1000 miles X 1000 miles (1600 km X 1600 km).

Finland - Russia Clipboard map

There you can see the historical Finland - Russia eastern front area. Map scale is 1:4 and the map area is 256 miles X 256 miles (400 km X 400 km). In a normal world the area is about 1000 miles X 1000 miles (1600 km X 1600 km). You can download the printable FinRus map and Backwoods airfield map from here:

http://events.hitechcreations.com/terrain/Kanttori/LLv32/FRmaps.zip

Clipboard map is created by Dux. All the skins (airplane's camouflages) are by Kanttori except P-40B Tomahawk (winter), IL2 Type 3 (winter) and Boston III (winter) are by Kweassa. P-40E Warhawk (winter) skin is by Ramzey.

Finland vs. Russia summer terrain has used in Aces High's Combat Theater arenas since 13th of December 2002. It also has been in Special Events Arena. The winter version of the same map has released 14th of March 2003.

Bf 109 G-2 MT-222 (Ilmari Juutilainen):

Artist: Kanttori / Lentolaivue 32
Plane type: integrated to Finland vs Russia map

W/O Ilmari "Illu" Juutilainen shot down 17 Russian planes with this Messerschmitt Bf 109 G2 named MT-222 "Keltainen kakkonen" (Yellow Two). Juutilainen's total aerial victories was 94 Russian planes in 437 war flights between 1939-44. He was our top scoring ace and best non-Germany pilot in Europe.

Bf 109 G-6/R6 MT-461 (Kyösti Karhila):

Artist: Kanttori / Lentolaivue 32. Side profile: Jouni "Jones" Rönkkö.
Plane type: integrated to Finland vs Russia map

This is Lt. Kyösti "Kössi" Karhila's Messerscmitt Bf 109 G6 called MT-461 "Tykkimersu" (Kanonen Booten) with three 20 mm cannons and two 13 mm machine guns (the right wing sign is mirrored and there is black "tulip" covering the nose. They are errors of the new Terrain Editor software and becoming right soon, we hope). Karhila shot down with this fighter eight Russian planes in three weeks. His total victories was 32 Russian planes in 304 war flights between 1941-44. 81 year old "Kössi" Karhila is still alive and He has been Quest of Honour in our Finnish virtual pilots meetings

Brewster BW-393 :

Artist: Kanttori / Lentolaivue 32. Side profile: Jouni "Jones" Rönkkö.
Plane type: integrated to Finland vs Russia map

This FM2 is skinned like Brewster BW-393 (LeLv 24, CO Major E. Luukkanen, Römpötti airfield, november 1942). Finland had 44 Brewster fighters and plenty of Brewster aces in World War II. As you can see Major Luukkanen had 17 victories (1942) marked on the tailfin with "Karelia" beer-bottle labels. In the end of the war he had 56 aerial victories. In spite of it there is any Brewster in Aces High…

Mk. I HC-452:

Artist: Kanttori / Lentolaivue 32. Side profile: Jouni "Jones" Rönkkö.
Plane type: integrated to Finland vs Russia map

Finland had 10 Hurricane Mk I since year 1940. They were old fighters in the end of the Continuation War, but finnish pilots still used them as far as 1943. This Hurricane is HC452 (LeLv 32, Suulajärvi airfield, march 1942). Hurricane’s camouflage was English type, because we painted only our own white/blue signs over the original markings. Yellow ribbons are axis eastern front signs. This is Saimaa Lake area in the South East of Finland. The smallest isles in the lakes are skinned from different objects.

Junkers Ju 88 A-4 JK-267:

Artist: Kanttori / Lentolaivue 32. Side profile: Jouni "Jones" Rönkkö.
Plane type: integrated to Finland vs Russia map

Finland bought 24 Junkers Ju 88 A-4 bombers in 1943. They were called "Junnu". This is JK-267 (LeLv 44, Onttola airfield, Joensuu, july 1943). Finns used "Junnu’s" and other bombers both level- and dive bombing and aerial reconnaissance. Junkers Ju 88 was the best bomber we had. Other bombers were Dornier Do 17 Z-3, Bristol Blenheim I and couple of Russia war booty bombers like Tupolev SB-2M-103. We are waiting them all coming some day to Aces High!

Douglas DC-2 "Hanssin Jukka":

Artist: Kanttori / Lentolaivue 32. Side profile: Jouni "Jones" Rönkkö.
Plane type: integrated to Finland vs Russia map

Douglas DC-2 was a 14-seat transport aircraft. Swedish Count Von Rosen donated to Finnish Air Force a DC-2 that he had bought from AB Aerotransport. The aircraft was flown to Finland during the Winter War in the end of January, 1940. The skin from Winter War is created "neutral" without any signs because of the gaming reasons: both Finnish and Russia are using this same transport plane.

Yak 9 (18)
Finns shot this Yak 9 (in game: Yak 9T) number 18 down near Lappeenranta in summer 1944. When questioned the Soviet pilot said he was on his way to Leningrad for dentist appointment and wasn't on a war mission at all... :O)

LA 5 (17)
Russian La 5 (in game: La 5 FN) number 17 from 3. IAP (3rd Air Regiment). This fighter's home base was Lavansaari Isle's airfield in Gulf of Finland. It was the main Russian's fighter base on this South Finland front. The winter camouflage is from Aleksandra Chekalina Squadron during the winter 1942-1943.

Hurricane IIB (60)
Lend lease fighter Hurricane Mk II B (in game: Mk II C) over the Vuoksi river in Karelian Isthmus. On the fuselage above the red star on the right side it says: "For Stalin" and "For the Motherland" on the left side. Finns shot this Hurricane down at Tiiksjärvi early 1942 and it was after that war booty.

Curtiss P40B Tomahawk (58)
Lend lease fighter Curtiss P40B Tomahawk was used a lot in Murmansk area. This white 58 was flown by Lt. A. S. Khlobystov, 20 GIAP, April 1942. Picture is over Petsamo, one of the Germans main airfield in Lapland, North Finland. Khlobystov was famous of his “taran” (crashing) victories. The topmost picture shows his Tomahawk's wing after taran. Winter camouflage is by Kweassa.

Curtiss P40E Warhawk (50)
This white 50 was Maj. P. Pokryshev's fighter in Leningrad area 1943. He was one of the Heroes of the Soviet Union (HSU). This winter camouflage is by Ramzey. He had to use his imagination when creating the painting, because he didn't had any reference picture from this model's winter painting.

BOSTON III
This is Russian lend lease Boston III bomber. Russians got allied planes from massive war material convoys to Murmansk and Arkhangel. One main target in this map is the Murmansk railway and airfields near it from north to south. Convoys and war material from U.S. and England was vital importance of U.S.S.R. This winter camouflage is by Kweassa.

Ilyushin IL2 Type 3
This ground attack plane Ilyushin IL2 "Sturmovik" was very feared of the Finnish land forces. It was very difficult to damage, because the pilot's and the gunner's cockpit was heavy armored: they sat in some kind of steel bath tub. IL2 was one of the best ground attack aircraft in the World War II. Summer skin is by Kanttori and winter version by Dux.

The Luftwaffe planes of FinRus map you'll find here.

A bit surprising add-on, since Op. Flashpoint is 3D action game and not a sim :)

Adds a British Aerospace Hawk light-attack/training jet with Finnish camo painting. The jet has two seats, a pilot seat and a cargo seat. Its armed with two sidewinder air-to-air missiles and a 30mm Aden cannon.

Messerschmitt 109 G-6 MT-437:

Artist: Timo "Kossu" Niiranen
Aircraft: Finnish Air Force Bf 109 G-6.
Plane type: add-on skin to default plane

This plane (W.Nr 163627) coded MT-437 by the FAF served in 3./HLeLv 24 (Fighter squadron 24) during summer 1944. The plane was made by the Messerschmitt factories in early -44 and sported an older type tail and canopy, but was equipped with the "Galland-panzer", armored-glass, head armor. The plane was named to Sergeant-Major L. Ahokas and had a tactical number "Yellow 9" painted on it's horizontal stabilizer. The stylized Lynx on the rudder was a suggested symbol of the Squadron, but was only painted on a very few aircraft before the war ended in Finland. MT-437 was credited with 4 victories in WWII.

Flight Simulator 2002

Kiitoksia Jannu/VLeLv Icebreakersille näistä kiinnostavista kuvista suomalaisilmailusta FS2002:n maailmassa.

FS2002-simulaattoriin on saatavilla aikas mukavasti suomikoneita. Osa on tehty paremmin, osassa vain pelkän ulkokuoret. Lisäksi suomalaisia lentokenttiä ja kaupunkeja on tehty muutamia, Ivalon kenttä on upea kaikkine rakennuksineen, samoin Helsingin kentästä on tulossa "fotorealistinen" add-on (jotka ovat koko simun suola, add-onit). Tampere löytyy, (HW kuvat) Suomi mastot löytyy, puut, joilla saa kotoista tunnelmaa mukavasti lisää.

Ohessa mainittujen koneiden lisäksi tarjolla lienee muitakin koneita. Esim. Rovaniemen kenttä on just oikein rullausteineen ja sotilaspuolen rakennuksineen! Mikäs siinä rullatessa!
